Lasko 2554 42-Inch Wind Curve Fan with Remote
This is our review of the Lasko 2554 42-Inch Wind Curve Fan. This is by quite a long way, one of the most popular tower fans on the market right now. There are thousands of buyer reviews, so plenty of information to go on. On average they rate this tower fan as 4.3 out of 5 stars. For around $60-65, the price represents good value, the brand is well known, and buyers clearly like this as a choice.
What Buyers Say About the Lasko 2554
We have summarised the reviews below. That should save you time having to search through all of them. As I mentioned there are over 4,000 buyer reviews. Clearly that makes this choice popular. Let's have a look at how they split down in terms of star rating.
From the table above, you can see that about 2 out of every 3 buyers rate this as a 5 star product, and 82% in total, rate this 4 stars or higher. That is a very strong indication, that this is a very good product. The fact that there also only small numbers of 1 star ratings, is also a good sign, that this is a good choice to make. If you ever see a product with 10+% in the 1 star allocation, be wary of buying it without checking those out.
Understanding What Buyers Say About the Lasko 2554 Tower Fan
According to the summary above, this is a good product. However, here at The Icy Spot, we like to fully check out the pros and cons of any products that we review. We like to start with looking at why people have rated a product as a 1 or 2 star product. Often when this happens, there is a theme for doing this, and that is worth knowing about.
Buyer Complaints About this Lasko 2554
- Buyers said that it stopped working after several months - simply stopped oscillating
- Some buyers found the fan to be too loud
- Some buyers said this model did not just blow enough cold air
- Some buyers said it was noisy when it osciallated
- Some said it did not blow enough air
We think it is always a good idea to look at the complaints first. With over 80% giving this a very high review, it is always worth checking the lower reviews. We certainly detected a theme with the complaints. We found about 120 complaints in total from over 4,000 so relatively small. This product comes with a 1-year warranty which is pretty standard for these types of product. The warranty covers defects in workmanship and/or materials.
If the fan should go faulty, then it can be repaired under normal warranty. This warranty does not apply if the product was damaged or failed because of accident, improper handling or operation, shipping, damage, abuse, misuse, unauthorized repairs made or attempted. This warranty does not cover shipping costs for the return of products to Lasko for repair or replacement. Lasko will pay return shipping charges from Lasko following warranty repairs or replacement.
With reference to fans being loud, or not blowing enough air, that really is a very subjective thing to say. There are three settings on this Lasko fan so on the highest setting, there should certainly be enough air. With reference to cold air, fans don't actually blow cold air. They simply move air about which gives a cooling effect. They will however really only circulate the air in a room.
In summary, there are not a great deal of complaints, but at least you now know about the types of complaint.

Main Review of the Lasko 2554 Wind Curve Fan
We have included above what we believe to be the really important information. That should save you some time trying to make your way through all of the reviews. Below though we have gone into the review for those who like a lot more detail. Hopefully you will find this useful.
It is a slim fan so will not take up much room in your home. There is also a useful handle that allows you to carry the fan. That is ideal if you need to move it from room to room. There are three speeds, the fan has limited oscillation. There are also vents which can be angled and that will help adjust the angle of airflow. It does have a nice appearance and it is light in weight. It is basically made of plastic though, even though the look may be of metal and wood.
The timer allows you to set the fan for 30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours or 4 hours. Then on top of that you can have dual settings on the timer, which allows you to set the timer anything between 0.5-7.5 hours.
It also has an Ionizer which will help clean the air. It is like the sensation of having fresh air. The Fan must be "ON" for the ionizer to be functional. When the ionizer is turned on it will assist in the purification of the room air
The remote control is always a useful thing to have. It does require 2 AAA batteries for it to work. It is a handy thing to have especially if you are in a large room, or if you are in bed.
This is limited and does not move a great deal. If you are looking for a fan that will sweep around a room, then this would not be the best choice.
The base comes in two halves. You lock these around the fan, and then thread the power supply cord through the large hole in the center of the Support Base Assembly. Then screw the base on to the fan with a couple of screws, using a Philip's head screwdriver.
Cleaning the Fan
Cleaning this fan, and most tower fans is not easy. The space between the vents is usually small and hard to get a vacuum cleaner into. Dust builds up in there, and the only other choice, is to start taking it apart. That is something most people will not want to have to do. Some buyers advise blowing the dust out with an air compressor or a leaf blower. That might be a bit extreme, and would need to be done outside.
Tower fans generally are notoriously difficult to clean. Ideally you need a powerful vacuum cleaner, and the proper attachment, to be able to get inside the vents.
Our Summary of the Lasko 2544 42" Wind Curve Fan
With 80% higher than 4 star ratings, it is fair to say, that the majority of buyers, are very satisfied with their purchase. At between $60-65 the value for money is also good, for a stylish looking fan. On the downside it is Made in China, mainly plastic, limited in oscillation movement and a pain in the rear to clean. If this is not the one for you, then check out our top 10 list of the best rated tower fans.
It dos seem to do a good job though. All fans have some noise that you do get used to over time. The good points on this 2554 model is that it compares well to any other tower fan on the market, has 3 speeds, has a remote control and also has a decent timer. For most buyers it seems to blow enough air, and it is made by a good brand.
