Best Floor Fan Reviews

Floor fans are also referred to as high velocity fans or sometimes even wind machines. They are also called drum fans and that is mainly down to their shape. Almost always these are used for commercial purposes. You will find them often in places like gyms, workshops, garages and warehouses. These are usually a little bit more expensive than most ordinary household fans.

Most of these sit on a stand that is low to the ground. You can also get ones which are designed for drying out carpets, and you can also get what are called hurricane fans. These hurricane fans sit on a pedestal but have very high powered, high velocity fans attached.

The average price for these is between $50-60 and there are more expensive options if you want additional features. Most buyers though are happy enough with one or two of these in and around the average price. Like most of our pages, we have put together a Top 10 List by rating of the best of the best.

Hopefully that will make it easier for you to see them all in one place. Mainly people will buy based on a good brand and good reviews.

Lasko 3300 Wind Machine

Lasko 3300 Wind MachineYou just have to love the name of this product. You should be able to pick this one up for under $50. Amazon buyers rate this one very highly by giving it an average rating of 4.3 out of 5 stars and that really is excellent. This brand is very well known for making great products and this one is no exception.

This one has a pivoting head which gives you a choice of directional airflow. It has a nice little carrying handle up top, unlike most other models, and that makes it easy and safe to move around.

It is simple to adjust and tweak the angle and on its lowest setting is quiet. If you need air moved, then this one does a fabulous job of doing that.

All of the buyers commented positively about just how powerful this Lasko floor fan was and about how quickly it could cool a room down. That probably explains how this one got its name …The Wind Machine.

It was hard to find any bad reviews on this one. There were the typical complaints of not being quiet enough. To be honest if you can find a quieter one than this, then good luck to you.

Avalon 16″ Fully Adjustable Floor Fan

Avalon 16 Inch 360 Degree Adjustable Floor/Table Fan With Max Cool Flow Technology UL ApprovedA very good fan at a very good price, and one that comes with many features that the other models and brand just do not have. This one looks really stylish, but more importantly it works like a treat. This one can be adjusted a full 360 degrees, and is one of the few floor fans on that market that has this useful feature.

This one comes with 3 energy efficient speed setting all powered by a copper motor which has been made to last.

Buyers have rated this very highly with 4.5 out of 5 stars and you get all of these features for under $40. This is why we included this fan into our list. It really is great value for money, and right up there with the best of them.

It comes fitted with a safety fused plug, an easy to carry handle and although small in size, certainly shifts a lot of air very quickly.

It is also light in weigh so easy to move around and like the other fans is relatively quiet.

Lasko 2265QM High Velocity Floor Fan

Lasko 2265QM 20-Inch Max Performance High Velocity Floor FanThis one does not have as good a name as the one above, but it has sold in its thousands. So you may well say, what’s in a name? This is another very good product from Lasko, though some $30 more expensive. Personally I think the first one does just as good a job, and is cheaper.

So what’s the big difference for the extra money?

Mainly this one is classed as an “industrial grade fan.” That is essentially what you are paying for. It is also louder than many fans in this class, but it will last for ages. It also moves air very quickly and if you can live with the noise, then this thing moves air very quickly.

You will not need to worry about this fan vibrating because it has been made very well and is as strong as an ox. This is the type of fan I would use in my garage or basement to quickly move air, but I would not use in my bedroom.

This one is ideal I think for people who want a space cooled down quickly, and need a fan that will last for a long time. It is very well constructed and built to last.

Honeywell Whole Room Air Circulator Floor Fan

Honeywell Whole Room Air Circulator Floor/Table FanOne of the best floor fans is this one from Honeywell, one of the best brands for any type of fan. With over 1,000 buyer reviews at Amazon and a consistent rating of 4.3 out of 5 stars, you know this product sells well, and the reviews hold up consistently.

  • This fan is quiet as it has an 8″ blade
  • 3 Speeds
  • Grill comes off easily for quick cleaning
  • This is not an oscillating model – but it can tilt up and down

This one does a good job on the low setting and it is also the quietest on this setting. Ideal for use in a bedroom or small apartment, if you want to stay fresh and cool.

One thing people look for is for the fan to be really quiet. Quietness is always a subjective thing though, and what is quiet for one, may not be quiet enough for someone else.

If you have a fan and that fan has blades, there will always be some noise. Overall this one we found to be pretty good. More importantly for us this one is just very good for getting air through a room.
